Hug-A-Horse: How to Donate Your Time

Beginning in March, we will be hosting Volunteer Orientations every other month for anyone interested in donating their time to help us rehab our horses. These jobs are already available to active members in the Meadowlark community who are horse-savvy and familiar with barn rules. If you are interested in being added to our mailing list or in donating your time to our program as a volunteer, please comment below or email us at MeadowlarkEquine@gmail.com

Jobs for volunteers include:

  • Grooming/brushing horses
  • Walking horses in hand
  • Hand grazing
  • Medicating
  • Stretching
  • Rehab walks up and down hills (weather permitting)
  • Bridge/balance board work for horses
  • Lunging (with/without tack or wraps)
  • Light riding (in walk - must be current, intermediate+ student to be eligible)
We often have our primary rehab horses, but many of these jobs would benefit our school horses as well. If you are in love with a particular school horse, or hoping to help out with something in particular please be sure to let us know! The more the merrier!
